Community guidelines

A working draft, published here for review alongside the terms of service.

The short version: share honestly, meet in public, and treat your neighbors the way you would want to be treated.

A gift is a gift

There is no money, no credit, and no scorekeeping in the exchange. You offer what you have spare, and someone takes it. Nobody owes anybody anything afterwards.

  • Never ask for payment, and never offer it.
  • Do not steer anyone off the platform to pay you.
  • If you want to sell what you grow, the marketplace is the place for that.

Say exactly what you are sharing

  • Whole fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh herbs, and whole uncracked nuts. Nothing home-canned, baked, or prepared; no dairy, meat, juice, cut produce, eggs, or honey.
  • Say whether it is unwashed, and say what you sprayed or treated it with. Both are fields on the listing, not fine print.
  • Describe honestly. A slightly bruised courgette is fine; a slightly bruised courgette described as perfect is not.
  • Share what you would happily eat yourself.

Swaps happen at hubs

Handoffs take place at vetted local businesses during posted swap times — never at anyone’s home. Verify your identity before sharing in person, and meet during the hub’s open hours.

Be the neighbor you would want

  • Use your real name and honest photos.
  • Answer messages like a person, and say so if you cannot make it.
  • No harassment, hate, threats, or discrimination — ever, and without warning.
  • Blocking someone works in both directions, immediately.

What you post

  • Post your own photos and your own writing.
  • Recipes are for real recipes, not advertising.
  • Nutrition figures are estimates — do not present them as certified.

If something goes wrong

Report it. Every listing, message, and profile has a report option, and every report is read by a person.

If food made someone unwell, use the food-issue report — it pauses the listing pattern while we look into it.

We may remove content, pause privileges, or close an account. We tell you what happened and why, and you can reply.
