Local farms
When you buy from a local farm here, the farm keeps 95% of what you pay for the produce. This is what happens to the rest.
That is our whole fee on farm goods. It pays for the farm pages, checkout, pickup codes and the people who vet every farm. Farms join free, and a donation goes through with no fee at all.
Part of our 5% goes to a community fund: the fund of the hub where the order was picked up, or the area’s fund when it was picked up at the farm gate. The money is spent on neighborhood programming, and every fund’s totals are below.
The card processor charges 2.9% + $0.30 a payment. The farm pays it at cost, out of what it receives. We add nothing to it, it never counts toward our 5%, and you never pay a surcharge.
Each fund’s total so far: what came in from farm orders, net of refunds, and what has been spent.
No fund has money in it yet. The first comes in with the first farm order picked up near you.
Yes. When an order is refunded, its share of the fund is reversed with it, so a fund only ever holds money from orders that were kept.
We do, on community programming at and around the hub, and every spend is logged against its fund. The totals here update as money comes in and goes out.
